All applications for the 2018-2019 school year are due by Friday, April 28th, 2018.

What is the Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund?

"Thank you for your interest in the Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund. NOSF scholarships provide needed tuition assistance for low-income families throughout northwest Ohio including Allen, Crawford, Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Huron, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood and Wyandot counties. With this assistance, families are able to send their K-8 children to the private schools of their choice, or provide homeschooling. Many families opt for Catholic and other religious-based schools. Others will select Montessori schools or independent schools and some choose homeschooling options.

Scholarships are privately funded, with assistance coming exclusively from individuals, corporations and foundations. Thousands of dollars have been raised to date, enabling the NOSF to provide scholarships for hundreds of children each year. The scholarships are 100% need-based, because the NOSF believes that income should not be a barrier to a quality education." (NOSF Website, 2018)

Dear OLC Parents:

I hope you are well. The following EdChoice Scholarship information may be a financial benefit for your family.

This information will be distributed to all families with children in Kindergarten through 5 th grade for the fall enrollment of 2018.

Ohio’s EdChoice Expansion Scholarship Program provides state funded scholarships. The scholarship must be used to attend private schools that meet requirements for program participation. OLC meets those requirements, and this scholarship could provide your child tuition for the 2018-2019 school year. The first application period begins this month, February 2018. The final date to submit the application and supporting documents is April 30, 2018. Please note the following steps in order to apply for the EdChoice Scholarship. Please note the different requirements between “New” applicants and “Renewals.”

1. For “New” applicants to be eligible, the family household income needs to be at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. New applicant eligibility applies for students enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 5 who have not received an EdChoice Scholarship in previous years. (Please see the attached chart to determine eligibility). If you meet eligibility requirements, please go to the next step.

2. Please contact Mr. Gerber, Principal, or Mrs. Fletcher, Secretary, to complete the enrollment/admission process.

3. Once a student has been accepted for enrollment at OLC for the fall of 2018, he/she can then apply for the EdChoice Tuition Scholarship through OLC.

4. OLC will then enter the scholarship application for the student through a secure online application system.

5. EdChoice Expansion Scholarships are income-based, and each family is required to mail the Income Verification form and supporting income documents to the Ohio Department of Education by the posted deadline each year to meet eligibility. Once eligibility has been determined by the ODE Scholarship Program staff, award letters will be sent to the family.

6. The Scholarship can be renewed each year (K-12) as long as the student’s family meets income eligibility requirements, does not have more than 20 unexcused absences, and takes all state achievement tests.

7. EdChoice Expansion Renewals are eligible to renew by submitting a renewal application to OLC, mailing Income Verification materials to ODE before the deadline, and meeting all eligibility requirements. Those families who are over the 200 percent Federal Poverty Guidelines will receive a reduced scholarship.

I encourage you to take full advantage of this tremendous educational opportunity. This program has proven to be a financial benefit to thousands of families across Ohio. For more information, contact 877-OHIO-EDU (toll free) or visit education.ohio.gov/edchoice.

I will be more than happy to help any parent, guardian, or grandparent who needs assistance in completing the necessary steps in attaining an EdChoice Expansion Scholarship. Please contact me at the school at 419-396- 6166, and I will be glad to sit down with you in a private setting to explain each step in the application process. It is our goal to make certain all qualified OLC parents have an opportunity to investigate and take full advantage of this scholarship program. In Christ and education
